[Performance introduction] The first breath exhaled by the haenyeo who returns from the sea is Sumbisori. That sound holds a life and work of a person, the time that fed their family, and a life that had to return to the sea. The Breath of the Sea, Haenyeo's Song is a participatory one-person show in which a man follows the traces of his haenyeo mother into the sea of memory. Between a worn towel, rubber gloves, mesh bags, and other old everyday objects, faint traces of the unfamiliar begin to seep in.
